Our SOD levels decline rapidly with age
For decades, numerous studies have confirmed the involvement of free radicals and oxidation in the aging process. The aging process strongly participates in weakening the body’s natural antioxidant defenses, especially SOD expression. According to published scientific studies, absence or alteration in SOD expression is correlated with a reduced lifespan and the development of age-related disorders. A restoration of an efficient pool of the body’s first line of antioxidant defenses represents an adapted strategy to face with the development of aged-related human disorders.
Recent researches have shown that SOD is a primary indicator of longevity across various different species. More organisms produce SOD and more their longevity is important. According to the key localization of SOD in the mitochondria, SOD preserves DNA structure and slows down cell senescence.
